This 14 volt handheld vacuum is awesome. It picks up anything and everything in its path. It even has the capability to pick up crumbs and dirt in between my sofa and in my car seats. It’s cordless so I can take it anywhere. I recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap and efficent handheld vacuum.

Dirt Devil Type G Vacuum Cleaner Bags (10-Pack)

If you have a handheld Dirt Devil vac, these bags are really the only good option. And, they are hard to find at Target, Wal-Mart and the grocery stores. I’m not sure why they are so difficult to find in Atlanta, but I had to resort to Amazon.com and pay shipping. It’s worth it, as they fit perfectly.

Eureka 4870GZ Boss Smart-Vac Upright Vacuum

Edited to say that I’ve now had and used the Eureka vacuum DAILY for 2.5 years, and my review wouldn’t change. This Eureka has been durable and held up well except that the end of the hose where you put attachments on had chipped and cracked some. The only time I’ve had to replace a belt is when *I* or one of my “helpful” kids vacuumed up something like a stuffed animal or sock. I’ve been very happy with it and would highly recommend going to check this one out! I still think this is a top choice in the under $300 vacuums. So how did it still compare to the recently received Dyson DC18 Total Access(approximate retail $400 to $500 vacuum) as a gift from someone who knew I considering a Dyson at the time I purchased this? It’s kind of like comparing apples to oranges since these aren’t even in the same price category, but for those who have wondered….I’ve tried to do a main points comparison where applicable.

I have been trying to decide which new vacuum to buy and finally bought this Eureka.

I had just used my old vacuum and ran through the house with it thinking that it would be a few more days before I got this one and got hubby to assemble it for use.

He put it together right away and I ran it just ONE day ofter using the older one. Granted, I realized it was time to replace the old one but it still picked up a good bit of stuff and when I changed bags, its was obviously still pulling a good bit of dust, cat hair, etc. when I used it.

Eureka R Style Belts

What can one say about a belt; it either works or it doesn’t.

I’ve noticed complaints about the belt breaking frequently on the Eureka 4870. I think that is due in large part to the manual operation of the height adjustment.

The height should be adjusted to the highest level that actually works on the carpet being vacuumed. If it is adjusted too low, the resistance from the carpet versus the powerful motor on the 4870 stresses the belt too much and it breaks.

Got this based on the reviews. This is a handy little vacuum for my Kindergarten classroom. It’s not heavy duty—more like a dustbuster with more attachments and an extendable handle. Works great for quick clean-ups and I love having the crevice tool.

Bissell PROlite Multi-Cyclonic Upright Vacuum, Bagless, 17G5

I currently own an Oreck XL and I’ve just compared this Bissell to the Oreck side-by-side. Here are my overall impressions of the Bissell 17G5, as well as a comparison to the Oreck XL Classic.

Assembly: Putting the Bissell together is a piece of cake and doesn’t really even require instructions. Simply slide the top half into the bottom half, secure with two Phillips screws, and you’re pretty much ready to go. You do need to plug the hose into the base, but that’s quite simple. The total assembly time was less than 5 minutes.

I was shocked at how well this thing works. I used my upright vacuum on my stairs first then went over them again with the the Bissell and could not believe how much dog and cat hair it got up so I moved to my sofa which has always been hard to get the hair off and it worked like a charm. It has alot of power for such a small vacuum.

Now know why called PowerGlide!hehe,easy to move over rugs. Grt picker upper. Loved the color-red; like having start button near the top(on side)Not loud! Its a lower sound, so it doesnt bother your ears(specially mine)Just got today and used, and got the old dust and bits of tiny paper off a badly worn rug on low setting!..delivery was real fast. I was soo surprised!Turbo tool even better for upholstry.A plus! Good product– hope all remains that way. even gave me an extra bag too. Thanks Bissell, great machine.

The other reviews pretty much sum it up, but I’ll put my thoughts in too.

(a) It’s a great vacuum. It fills the niche that I was hoping it would fill perfectly: I want to vacuum something small or far away from an outlet, and I don’t feel like fetching and plugging in the upright. Suction is great, the tools are great, the canister is great, etc. 5 out of 5 stars for the vacuum.
